The AWS/Azure PreSales Architect is responsible for driving cloud solution design, proposal creation, and customer engagement from a technical perspective. The role bridges the gap between business development and technical delivery, translating client requirements into scalable, secure, and costefficient cloud architectures across AWS and/or Azure. You will work closely with clients, sales teams, and delivery units to craft cloud migration, modernization, data, and AI/ML solutions, ensuring alignment with both customer needs and organizational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & PreSales
Engage with customers to understand their business challenges, technical requirements, and current infrastructure.
Conduct cloud readiness assessments, discovery sessions, and workshops with CxO, IT, and operations teams.
Translate customer requirements into solution blueprints, architecture diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs).
Deliver RFP/RFI responses, technical proposals, and presentations with a focus on differentiation and value.
Participate in customer demos, POCs, and technical validations to establish solution confidence.
2. Solution Design & Architecture
Design end-to-end cloud architectures across compute, storage, network, database, security, and DevOps layers.
Build hybrid and multi-cloud architectures leveraging AWS, Azure, and on-premises integrations.
Create cost-optimized, secure, and highly available solutions aligning with Well-Architected Frameworks.
Recommend suitable IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services and third-party integrations to meet customer objectives.
Develop reference architectures, deployment patterns, and best-practice documentation.
3. Collaboration & Delivery Handoff
Work closely with delivery teams, ensuring solution feasibility, scope clarity, and delivery readiness.
Support project estimation, effort sizing, and resource planning.
Collaborate with product engineering, DevOps, and security teams for integrated solution delivery.
4. Sales & Business Enablement
Assist in building value propositions, ROI models, and competitive differentiators for proposals.
Partner with sales and account management to identify new opportunities in existing accounts.
Stay updated with AWS/Azure service enhancements, pricing models, and partner programs.
Contribute to practice development, including solution accelerators, templates, and case studies.
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Expertise
Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS and/or Azure architecture, design patterns, and managed services.
Expertise in one or more areas: o Cloud Migrations (Lift & Shift / Modernization) o Application Modernization (.NET, Java, Containers, Serverless) o Data & Analytics (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Data Factory, Glue, etc.) o DevOps & Automation (CI/CD pipelines, IaC with ARM/Bicep/Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CodePipeline) o Security & Compliance (IAM, Key Vault/KMS, Policies, Blueprints, CIS Benchmark)
Familiarity with cost management, monitoring, and governance frameworks (Azure Cost Management, AWS Trusted Advisor, CloudHealth, etc.).
Experience integrating AI/ML, IoT, or Edge Computing solutions.
Business & Communication Skills
Proven experience in customer-facing technical pre-sales or solution architect roles.
Strong presentation, proposal writing, and communication skills (both technical and executive levels).
Ability to articulate complex technical solutions in business language.
Proven track record of winning deals or delivering high-impact POCs.
Certifications (Preferred):
AWS/Azure Security or DevOps certifications (optional plus)
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect –Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
